A HUMAN chain link around Barbados is planned in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Independence next year.

That’s the vision of Errol Griffith who does not see it as merely a symbolic gesture of people showing their love for this country.

He hopes it will “build a powerful and long-lasting programme for personal, interpersonal and national change”.

Griffith who heads the Freemind Institute, acknowledges it is only the second time it will be done. He wants this event to “energise Barbados” since his desire is to make Barbados the number one place in the world to live, work and visit.

The motivational speaker and entrepreneur said: “Now that the economic realities have hit home, the increased social challenges, including crime and uncertainty regarding the future, this is an opportunity to galvanise ourselves to a new and better place.”

Griffith sees it as “a great opportunity to involve all in unified, collective, holistic, long-lasting change. One people, one Barbados.”

He noted the success of the first chain link which took place in 1979 but indicated that on this occasion it was not just an issue of change, but transformation.

“Let us transform our personal lives at home, school, work and play. Let us transform our nation. In the midst of this we will transform our families and homes; our communities, where we work; how we play and how we worship,” Griffith added. (ES)
