THE SANDALS RESORTS brand has brought name recognition to Barbados. So says leading real estate developer Paul Altman.

He made the comment this morning while delivering the feature address at the launch of two real estate executive diploma programmes at the Cave Hill School of Business.

Speaking on the topic The Resurgence of the Real Estate Market in the Caribbean, Altman told the gathering that world had gotten to know the Caribbean islands through global brands.

“There are many arguments put out as to whether it is better to just do local projects or to have international brands joined into our development sector. I know there are many arguments against certain benefits that the Sandals group would have achieved in terms of getting them to come here.

“I can safely say that Sandals has brought a brand name to Barbados – name recognition and more traffic; spinoffs in so many directions in terms of employments, services, maybe they are not using as much as another brand that is not all inclusive but you measure what Sandals is doing and what it will continue to do and I suggest that that is one of the ways forward,” he said.
