Cyclone blow away Greens’ challenge

SUNSET AND SURF Cyclone blew away the efforts of Greens to cruise to a comfortable victory by 72 runs in the final of the Barbados Cricket League’s (BCL) C.O. Williams Mitchie Hewitt Champion of Champions competition at Blenheim “A” yesterday.

The experienced five-time finalists recovered from a shaky start to compile 183 for nine in 33 overs before overwhelming the more youthful first-timers, who were dismissed for 111 in 24.4 overs.

Cyclone captain Rodney Roach shored up the St James club’s innings after they slipped to 47 for four, having been invited to bat on a slow, dry pitch.

His patient 42 contained only two boundaries but the veteran shared in a critical fifth-wicket partnership with Jeffrey King (18) with whom he added 36. (WH)
