Beauty comes at a cost for black women

BLACK, BEAUTIFUL, BUT becoming bald.

That is what scores of Barbadian women are going through as a result of trying to enhance their beauty by various hairstyles through the years.

So serious is the situation that leading dermatologist Dr Suleman Bhamjee said he and his colleagues are seeing a few cases monthly. He could not give specific numbers.

The majority of those seen struggling with hair loss are in their 30s, but women in their 20s and 40s are also encountered. And all are black. (SP)
