AN AIR OF incredulity, sorrow and guilt prevailed over the Caribbean Aggregates Ltd quarry in Carrington, St Philip, yesterday after a horrific accident resulted in the death of a worker.

Bulldozer driver Anthony “Bird” Walcott, 56, of The Belle, St Michael, was killed after a large portion of the cliff side he was working on gave way, plunging him and the tractor he was driving more than 100 feet. One of his legs was severed.

An emotional Peter Hunte, the managing director, said it was a hard blow to see someone he had been working with for more than 20 years pass away in such a manner. He described what happened.
