The Independence weekend has been filled with cricket for hundreds of primary school students taking part in the Scotiabank Kiddy Cricket Festival at the Desmond Haynes Oval at Carlton Cricket Club.

Students from 33 primary schools around the island faced off against each other in the round-robin prelimaries yesterday, making every effort to be among the eight teams that will get to the finals to be held tomorrow.

Defending co-champions Luther Thorne Memorial Primary, as well as 2012 title-holders West Terrace Primary, were among the teams playing on the first day.

Joint 2014 festival winners Selah Primary will play today, as will 2013 champions St Paul’s Primary.
