THE BARBADOS WORKERS UNION (BWU) is hoping for a speedy resolution in the case where an Apes Hill Club worker was struck by a vehicle while protesting.
BWU deputy general secretary (industrial relations) Dwaine Paul, in calling the incident “unprecedented”, told the media he hoped the Royal Barbados Police Force (RBPF) would soon be able to sort it out.
“There is no update as it relates to the injured man. I hope the RBPF can bring this matter to a conclusion as we would like it expedited as soon as possible,” he said.
As for the grievances raised by the club’s maintenance workers, Paul said two meetings had been held with the Chief Labour Officer and negotiations were continuing.
In terms of any issues with race, Paul said the union would leave that decision to the public and he would continue to argue the facts. (CA)
