Light ahead

AFTER A YEAR of fluctuating fortunes, some business people are still looking towards 2016 with optimism.

Alex McDonald, chairman of the Barbados Private Sector Association, said that while some businesses had started to see a revival of their fortunes, for most this year was one of “wait and see”. He is expecting improvements next year.

“I think a lot of [business people] are still very cautious as to their stance toward an investment profile,” he said. “We still are in a period of low demand for local products and services, yet we seem to have a strong winter tourism, which is a good thing because those things tend to trickle down into the economy.
