THE CRIES of residents of Robinson Close and neighbouring areas of St Stephen’s Hill have been heard.
And relief appears to be on the horizon.
Yesterday, Minister of Health John Boyce as well as a number of officials from a cross section of ministries paid an unannounced visit to the area to get a first-hand look at the situation that had left residents in the immediate vicinity and downwind crying out for help.
For years, the area in the shadow of the University of the West Indies and near the top of St Stephen’s Hill has been a dump site for all manner of material. Residents said trucks carrying everything from household waste to lumber and large appliances, entered the cul-de-sac at all hours of the day to offload their refuse into the now abandoned Roger’s Quarry.
