NOW IS THE TIME to be more aware of Africa. And Barbadians ought to pay special attention to African Awareness Month especially in light of the country celebrating 50 years of Independence.

So said senior teacher at St Boniface Nursery School in Sion Hill, St. James, Clytie Vaughn. She was speaking to NATION ONLINE earlier today as students and members of staff launched African Awareness Month activities.

“I think that greater awareness should be paid to Africa especially then and now,” she said.  When people hear Africa, it is painted with negativity as a very dark continent; that is not true.”

During the morning session the little ones were treated to storytelling by past student Len Sehntwali and his daughter Eja Sehntwali who danced on stilts much to the delight of the children. (MR)
