GOVERNOR GENERAL SIR Elliott Belgrave and Lady Belgrave were treated to sweet singing when they attended an evening of sacred music on Sunday at the St Philip-the-Less Church at Boscobel, St Peter.

It was a nostalgic event for Sir Elliott, who was born and raised in the district. He recalled that as a young man he was a member of the church choir, taught Sunday School and at confirmation in the church was assigned the honour of holding the Bishop’s staff.

“Being here affords me the opportunity to return home, so I can meet some of the members of my family and some of my old friends,” he said.

Sir Elliott was presented with a gift of a framed picture of the church, presented by two of his contemporaries, Frank Caddle and Sylvester Williams. The three also attended the Coleridge School together.
