Barbados to host Rugby Sevens

Something big has happened for local rugby.

The local body has been awarded the right to stage the Barbados International Rugby Sevens on December 10 and 11.

The event was previously hosted by Trinidad and then in sister isle Tobago for the past five years.

Vice-president of the Barbados Rugby Football Union, George Nicholson, said they had been negotiating to get the tournament moved here over the last two years.

“People seem to like the sports tourism product we offer in  Barbados so we are grateful that we can play our part,” said an elated Nicholson. (AT)
