Headed for action

THE Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) is about to get tough with the Barbados Water Authority (BWA).

This, after previous meetings with Minister of Water Resource Management Dr David Estwick, and management of the BWA were unable to achieve an amicable conclusion over the payment of monies the union claims have been owed to workers since 2006.

The BWU has now called an extraordinary meeting of its powerful Executive Council, to be held tomorrow at its Solidarity House headquarters at 5 p.m.

According to informed sources, the possibility of BWA workers being called out for industrial action was now a “definite possibility”.
