Motoring standouts rewarded

Marshals, mechanics and officials came in for high praise as drivers and special people were recognised during the annual awards ceremony of the Motoring Club Barbados Inc. (MCBI) at The Boatyard last Friday.

And new champion driver Wayne Archer in his victory speech told the gathering made up of other club members, sponsors and officials that he was pleased to have won and is looking forward to the opening of the new season on March 20.

“The marshals, the committee of management, the sponsors, fellow drivers and of course Adam Alleyne and Adrian Bailey; my mechanics and all concerned, all banded together to produce the kind of event that we had last year,” the new champion said.

It was not because he won, Archer said, but the level of competition and the kind of the machinery used by competitors, that made the last season a very memorable one.
