Transport Board bus burns in St George
ANOTHER TRANSPORT BOARD bus was destroyed by fire this morning.
Driver Anthony Walcott escaped injury when the vehicle burst into flames at Astoria, St George after it started smoking from the rear.
There were no passengers on board at the time of the blaze around 1:10 a.m. Walcott and another driver attempted to put out the fire using the extinguisher on board the bus.
It is the second Transport Board bus to burst into flames in the last two months.
On March 21, fire destroyed a Marco Polo bus just outside the Barbados Museum, The Garrison.
Driver William Taylor asked the 11 passengers on board to disembark and attempted to bring the blaze under control using the onboard fire extinguisher. He received assistance from a fellow driver who was passing by. (AC)
