A LEGAL BATTLE appears to be brewing for the regional distribution rights for Rock Hard Cement.
Chairman and chief executive officer of Rock Hard Cement, Mark Maloney, told the DAILY NATION yesterday he had filed a lawsuit after he had been informed that the Trinidad Cement Limited (TCL) group, owners of the Arawak Cement Plant, had been “trying to register the name Rock Hard Cement in all of the Caribbean territories”.
Maloney called the alleged action by the Trinidadian company “a strong-arm move and a bullying tactic” to block the company he established in Barbados six months ago from expanding into the wider Caribbean.
“Whilst it is not something that we really like to have to put our energy into since it involves a lot of our time and legal costs to fight it, we will be fighting it,” he said. (GC)
