PM Stuart to deliver keynote address in Florida

Article by

PRIME MINISTER Freundel Stuart will deliver the keynote address tomorrow at the Seventh Annual Spring Gala of the Barbados Association of Tampa Bay, Inc. (BAOTB), which will be held in Florida over the next few days.

In addition, Stuart is expected to be presented with the keys to the City by the Mayor of Tampa Bay during the Tourism and Diaspora Affairs Forum on Sunday, June 12.

The Gala comprises several activities and is scheduled to take place from today, Friday, June 10 to Monday, June 13, at the Innisbrook Golf and Tennis Resort.

Celebrating 50 years of Barbados’ Independence is the theme of the celebrations and events include a golf tournament on Saturday; and a church service and the Forum on Tourism and Diaspora Affairs on Sunday.

The BAOTB Inc. is a nonprofit organisation which was formed in 2009 and promotes cultural diversity between Barbadians living in their community, other cultural/ethnic organisations and or individuals in the Tampa Bay community.

Its goal is to bring Barbadians living in the Tampa Bay area (which has a population of approximately 4 million people) and surrounding communities closer together and to promote Barbados as a tourism destination of choice. The BAOTB Inc. liaises with Barbadians living in the diaspora as well as those at home.

The members also work closely with Government and representatives at the Consulate-General of Barbados in Miami.

One of the organisation’s primary objectives is to collaborate with partner charities whose focus is on cancer. The members raise awareness and provide education to cancer patients, their families, and caregivers in the Tampa Bay area and at home.

The Association has partnered with the Cancer Support Services since 2010, donating cash and or supplies and equipment each year. It has also provided much needed equipment and supplies to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. (BGIS)
