MINISTER in the Prime Minister’s Office, Senator Darcy Boyce, is hoping that Barbados will soon be powered by energy efficient sources.
In his address at the recent launch of the Quality in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency R3E project, Boyce said that in the next 15 years if renewable energy was embraced, the economy could be boosted through job creation and a smaller import bill.
“If we could move to 50 000 houses with solar photovoltaic systems, we could be looking at 125 megawatts of power in the daytime and that will constitute over half of our peak daytime requirements for electricity generating,” he said at the Radisson Aquatica Resort recently.
