35 teams for Block push
THE National Amateur Block Draughts Tournament has shown massive growth over the years, says Minister of Sports and Youth Stephen Lashley.
He made the assertion during the launch of the fifth annual tournament at his Sky Mall Haggatt Hall office yesterday.
“The programme is a relevant and wholesome activity for the youth of Barbados and falls within the ministry’s mandate,” he said.
“The tournament, which began on November 8, 2012, has seen increased participation over the years. We started with eight teams and are now up to 35 teams this year.” (RA)
