THE ALPHA swim club dominated the pool in both the men’s and women’s events on the first day of the Powerade Barbados Olympic Association Independence Short Course National Championship at the Aquatic Centre on Tuesday.

Though Nkosi Dunwoody and Ashley Weekes didn’t erase any records, they both gave their team the edge after some outstanding strokes in the pool in the 13-14 age group.

Dunwoody captured wins in the 1 500-metre freestyle in 17 minutes, 7.74 seconds and the 100 metre individual medley in 1 minute, 3.81 seconds.

The freestyle was quite taxing on the body but Dunwoody made 60 laps look easy maintaining his lead and momentum throughout to finish in fine style. (RG)
