“IT WAS a tough final, but I had issues with my kart.”

That’s how Florida Winter Tour second place finisher, Barbadian Zane Maloney summed up the weekend action for him at the Daytona International Speedway.

At the wheel of an OTK kart, it was the first round of the World Karting Association Winter Tour and Manufacturers Cup, and Maloney in his debut event at the important international outing, had given notice of his intentions by winning the first round on the opening day after preparation warm-ups at Homestead, Palm Beach and Ocala tracks.

After winning Round 1 on Friday, the former Barbados Karting Association champion driver seemed to repeat his first day performance as he was in the top three of the opening laps, but mechanical problems and tyre wear saw him drop to seventh as they wound down to the chequered flag. (TT)
