EFFORTS ARE UNDER WAY to get more people into the sponsorship and beautification of the island’s roundabouts.

The Barbados Horticultural Society (BHS) is hoping to kick-start the effort with its inaugural Roundabout Beautification Competition.

Speaking at this morning’s launch of competition, which culminates with judging between April 4 and 6, BHS president Orson Daisley said the competition will be broken down into four categories. First prize in each category is $4 000, with the second-placed winners taking $2 000.

There is a special desk in the Ministry of Transport and Works for the sponsorship of roundabouts, and people are encouraged to contact the desk for the relevant information.  (YB)
