KRAIGG BRATHWAITE struck his first limited-overs century at regional level to lead Barbados Pride to a challenging total against Guyana Jaguars in their opening WICB Super50 day/night cricket match at Kensington Oval today.

The 24-year-old opening batsman made 101 off 146 balls and featured in a third wicket partnership of 122 with Jonathan Carter, who made an enterprising 75 off 64 balls. nagico-super50-logo

Barbados Pride amassed 302 for seven off their 50 overs after winning the toss.

It was their highest score in a regional limited-overs match at the venue, bettering the 288 against Leeward Islands in 1985.

There was some entertainment for the fair sized crowd towards the end of the innings when Barbados lashed 94 from the last ten overs.

Brathwaite, whose previous best at this level was an unbeaten 86, solidly accumulated his runs, striking seven fours and a six while Carter looked authoritative in smashing five fours and four sixes.

After they departed, captain Jason Holder (31 off 21 balls), Ashley Nurse (28 off 15 balls) and Roston Chase (20 not out off ten balls) increased the tempo at the death to ensure that Barbados went past the 300-run mark. (HG)
