Destiny goes into eternity

IT WAS hard for the grieving family of Destiny Thompson, the 12-year-old who died in a road accident last month, to let her go into eternity yesterday.

As hundreds gathered at St Philip’s Parish Church to say farewell to the Springer Memorial School first former, a common theme ran through the 90-minute funeral service: Destiny was a child with a great future inspired by her love for God.

Destiny lost her life as she crossed Boarded Hall Main Road, St George, on her way from school on February 15. According to residents in the nearby housing development, Destiny, of The Vineyard, St Philip, was killed after exiting a minibus around 3:30 p.m.

She was hit when crossing the busy road to meet her mother, Martina Mayers, who was working in the development  (JS)
