THE NATIONAL Union of Public Workers (NUPW) has all of its financial statements up to date, according to president Akanni McDowall.
He was questioned about claims that the organisation’s accounts had not been audited for a number of years. “For the first time in recent years of the NUPW, we have all of the financials ready. It has only be done under this executive that we have up-to-date financials for the organisation . . . . It is something we are very proud of,” he said.
He said general treasurer Asokore Beckles and a team of members had ensured that the information was up to date as the organisation prepared to celebrate 73 years this month.
McDowall told the WEEKEND NATION when he and the current executive came to office they made a commitment not to allow the situation to continue. (LK)
