12 months for stealing drinks

HE WAS CHARGED with stealing four Monster energy drinks, but habitual thief Andrew Melvin Franklyn tried to convince the court that he took only two but was charged because “all were cold”.

“The cold ones mix with the hot ones,” the 40-year-old told the District “A” Magistrates’ Court before he was sentenced to 12 months in jail.

Franklyn, of Edgecumbe, St Philip, had pleaded guilty on a previous occasion to stealing the drinks from DHB Holdings on January 26.

The court heard that Franklyn went to the Sol gas station on Bay Street, St Michael, and was seen putting the drinks in his haversack before leaving. (TKS)
