BARBADOS DRAMATICALLY SNATCHED snatched a silver medal in the men’s 4×100 metres relay at the IAAF World Relays in The Bahamas on Saturday night.

In a race in which three teams failed to finish, including pre-race favourites Canada, the Barbados quartet of Mario Burke, Ramon Gittens, Nicholas Deshong and Burkheart Ellis Jr held their nerve to finish second behind runaway winners United States.

With the big guns blundering on the baton exchanges, Barbados executed their race and anchor Ellis just caught Jinsheng Liang of China to claim second place, US$30 000 and automatic qualification to the World Championships in August.
