Enid remembered for warm heart

SHE MAY HAVE been known for her popular 1970s hangout spot Enid Bar.

But Enid Powlett was known for far more than that to those who knew the New Orleans resident well.

The “home-going” service for Powell, who died at the age of 84, was held at the St Leonard’s Anglican Church yesterday.

While noting that the popular hangout spot in Baxter’s Road had opened in 1972, great-granddaughter Lisa Powlett said  that Enid, known to her as “mama”, was truly a loving woman. (AD)
