LED BY THE offensive power of the fleet-footed Skye Spencer-Layne, West Terrace produced a strong second-half surge to roll over Vauxhall and claim the National Sports Council’s Pine Hill Dairy Primary Schools Netball crown yesterday.
West Terrace defeated Vauxhall 12-9 in an absorbing final at the Netball Stadium, taking the game by the scruff of the neck in the third quarter.
Spencer-Layne, one of the fastest primary school sprinters in the country, was at the heart of the fightback for West Terrace, taking charge of the offence. In that period, West Terrace outscored Vauxhall 7-2. Layne was voted the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Vauxhall had their noses out front in the first two quarters, leading 3-2 at the end of the first period and 5-4 at half-time. (MK)
