Blow to PRTA

MASSY UNITED INSURANCE (MUIL) is dumping the Professional Road Tennis Association (PRTA).

The Clash Of The Titans’ sponsorship agreement between the insurance giants and Dale Clarke’s PRTA is coming to a messy end after Massy United Insurance proposed to terminate the remainder of their three-year, $120 000 contract with “immediate effect”.

The move comes as the PRTA has failed to pay out any prize money from April’s Clash of the Titans tournament despite receiving this year’s $40 000 sponsorship cheque from Massy United Insurance.

In a letter dated June 27 – a copy of which was obtained by the Saturday Sun – Massy United Insurance chief executive officer Randy Graham issued Clarke the proposal after the PRTA executive requested additional funding to cover expenses due to a reported shortfall in revenue. (JM)
