AT LEAST TWO men will have to run more than the rest of their relay teammates.
Top Bajan sprinters Ramon Gittens and Mario Burke won’t just be doing the 4×100 metres relay now, as they’ve been added to the men’s 100 metres field at next week’s IAAF World Championships in London.
Athletics Association of Barbados (AAB) vice president Noel Lynch confirmed the news after the IAAF extended an invitation to the two to contest the marquee event.
“The IAAF extended them an invitation to make the event more competitive because it looks like the numbers were down a bit this year as less people were making the qualifying time of 10.12 seconds,” Lynch explained. (JM)
