IT’S BEEN QUITE the summer for Hannah Chambers.

Barbados’ next best tennis talent continues to make a name for herself in the international arena after reaching the semi-finals of the region’s premier junior tournament, JITIC, in the Dominican Republic last week.

Playing in the under-14 division, Chambers won five successive matches, including a straight-sets quarter-final victory over the top-seeded Daniel Galves, before losing to eventual winner Valentia Cruz of El Salvador 2-6, 6-4, 3-6 in a hard-fought semi.

Chambers then paired with Cruz to advance to the semi-finals of the girls’ doubles, where they fell to Guatemalans Deborah Dominguez and Maria Rio on Friday. (JM)
