THERE’S SO MUCH more to discover on this tropical island paradise, and this year there’s a fantastic line up of festivals, parties, carnivals and celebrations of everything Bajan, from mouth-watering food to inspiring new events like the island’s first ever Beach & Wellness Festival and the brand-new Barbados Cycling Festival.

Add a vibrant, colourful culture, beautiful beaches and a fabulous year-round climate and you have the recipe for your perfect Island-life getaway… Here are just some of this year’s Barbados highlights.

The Caribbean’s culinary capital

Where else can you enjoy a mix of Bajan, Caribbean and International food served in such idyllic surroundings? Whether it’s fine dining or street food that tickles your tastebuds, they take food seriously in Barbados and this year is no exception. Join us for this year’s Food and Rum Festival (November 16 – November 19) which promises to be the best yet.

The best Food and Rum festival in the Caribbean attracts acclaimed international chefs, rum experts and mixologists and every year yet more culinary and rum-inspired events are created for three days of lavish feasting and partying.

The birthplace of Rum

Let’s not forget Barbados’ most famous and much-loved export: Rum. Since Mount Gay brewed their first barrel back in 1703 the tropical tipple has bound the island together. No visit to Barbados is complete until you’ve sampled their oldest and finest spirit, and the Mount Gay rum tour is a must-do for any visitor.

Relax, revive, rejuvenate

This year’s your chance to experience Barbados’ first ever Beach & Wellness Festival. Bringing together experts in yoga, meditation, healthy eating and every aspect of health and wellness, this brand-new festival will celebrate both Barbados’ active spirit and their Year of Sport.

Imagine SUP yoga on the warm, azure-blue waters, meditation to the sound of the waves, or enjoying some healthy eating, Barbados style, with lionfish and breadfruit cooked to perfection over a beach BBQ. Taking place from September 2  -3, this unique and family friendly event promises to restore body and soul the Bajan way.

Pedal Power

Barbados Cycling Festival (September 5 – 10) launches this year for the first time. Road racers and mountain bikers are all welcome to join this 6-day cycling extravaganza, taking in the stunning scenery of Barbados around carefully designed routes with maximum scenic beauty guaranteed.

The first five days will see riders exploring each of Barbados’ parishes, and the tournament culminates in a day’s racing the Gold (95km) route or Silver (63km) route with the chance to win cash prizes. Whether you’re biking or watching, everyone can join the party on the beachfront to celebrate after the race. With so much going on, 2017 is the year to visit Barbados.
