Rehab push

THE CLOSED BARBADOS chapter of Teen Challenge is getting a shot in the arm from the United States head office and a regional counterpart.

And whenever it reopens, the drug rehabilitation facility will be looking to partner with a number of agencies, including the Barbados Vagrants and Homeless Society, to “rescue people before they die”.

The Mapps, St Philip facility has been closed since 2013 when its director Stephen Gilkes “had a relapse”.

Regional representative of Global Teen Challenge for Latin America and the Caribbean, Duane Henders, told the DAILY NATION he and associate Aaron Sweigard were hoping to restart the drug rehabilitation centre with help from Teen Challenge Jamaica. (HLE)
