Clean-up at Morgan Lewis beach

MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC are invited to join the staff of the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) for a clean-up at the Morgan Lewis Beach, in St Andrew to mark International Coastal Clean-up Day.

The activity is scheduled for Saturday, September 16, and interested persons are asked to register with the Department, no later than Wednesday, September 13.

During the clean-up, The EPD will be collecting data from the litter found on the beaches as part of its National Marine Litter Monitoring Programme.

Interested persons who require transportation, and have registered before the deadline, are asked to assemble at the EPD, L.V. Harcourt Lewis Building, Dalkeith, St Michael, by 5:15 a.m.

However, persons, who do not require transportation, are asked to meet at the Conrad Hunte Sports Club, Shorey Village, St Andrew at 6 a.m.

The Caribbean Youth Environment Network for Barbados will also be hosting beach clean-ups as part of the Barbados International Coastal Clean-up Day. Persons interested in participating may contact National Coordinator, Sade Deane, or Project Coordinator Jamilla Sealy, at 622-2043.

Persons are also reminded that they must contact The National Conservation Commission and the EPD, before planning their own clean-up events.
