Not all idling on the block

NOT ALL BOYS are on the block. As is the case in Chapman Lane, St Michael, some of them are hard at work cleaning the community when no one else seemingly will.

In the sweltering morning sun last Saturday, several young men from the heart of The City took up what they could find to debush a heavily-traversed pathway and hard courts used by residents and students of St Mary’s Primary School.

Resident Evadney Turney told the DAILY NATION she was proud to see young men, who were often maligned in the public’s eye as being “boys on the block”, taking it upon themselves to do some much-needed community work.

“Look at these young men; men they would say would sit down on the corner and not want any work,” Turney said. (AD)
