It was the 110th year of Christmas Morning in the Park 2017 and in bright sunshine, park-goers promenaded parading colour and style.
The usual personalities were spotted in their familiar positions around the bandstand where the Royal Barbados Police Force Band treated the appreciative audience to a smorgasbord of Christmas musical fare.
The performance was extra special as it was the farewell Christmas Morning in the Park for director of the band, Senior Superintendent Keith Ellis. There was no mistaking the emotion as he told Social Scene how he felt about that reality.
Retired radio sports personality Sam Wilkinson was there yet again, as well as his young counterpart, motor racing sports journalist Trevor Thorpe; Joycelyn King and her childhood friends from the Weekes family; Dr Winston Crookendale and a fetchingly-dressed Mildred Forde, the octogenarian who is nearing age 90 but never fails to impress with her agile dance steps; and Minister of Social Care.
Several visitors also enjoyed the Queen’s Park experience. For them it was the same as that of a Barbadian home for the holidays who remarked, “For me this is what Christmas is all about.” (GC)
