Lanterns: Pay us
At least one south coast business is considering taking the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) to court over the losses incurred because of the south coast sewage issue.
Owner of Lanterns Mall, Frederick George, confirmed yesterday this action was on the cards as he told the Sunday Sun that the Hastings, Christ Church business had suffered a “remarkable” drop in customer traffic due to the prolonged period that effluent was pouring at its doorstep.
George explained the BWA had a responsibility to the businesses to maintain the sewerage network as those businesses paid a monthly sewage fee.
There are 30 stores and restaurants operating in the Lanterns Mall.
As the businesses calculated their losses, George said Lanterns was looking to the idea of seeking compensation. (AD)
