Second field day on romaine lettuce

Farmers, as well as members of the general public, will have another opportunity to learn about the cultivation of Romaine lettuce on Thursday, April 19, at the CARDI Facility, located on the compound of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and Water Resource Management, Graeme Hall, Christ Church, from 9 a.m. until noon.

It will feature presentations on varieties of Romaine lettuce suitable to Barbados’ climate along with field tours.

The decision to hold another Field Day was based on the overwhelming response of farmers to last Tuesday’s event. The objectives of the session were to expose farmers to the various types of Romaine lettuce; to significantly reduce the import of this commodity; and to establish improved production systems.
