The Royal Barbados Police Force has a new second in command. And just like previous appointments, this one could lead to controversy within the force.

Erwin Boyce is the new Deputy Commissioner of Police and his elevation was announced internally yesterday by Commissioner Tyrone Griffith.

“This memo serves to inform that Mr Erwin Boyce has been appointed on promotion to the post of Deputy Commissioner with effect from May 1, 2018,” Griffith wrote.

The commissioner also revealed that Acting Deputy Commissioner Oral Williams would retain the position until Monday.

Boyce was one of five senior cops interviewed by the Police Service Commission (PSC) last year for the vacant post. (BA)
