The first two vans on the concourse of the long-awaited Constitution River Terminal cruised in to much applause from those who gathered this morning for the official opening of the facility.

Minister of Transport and Works Michael Lashley said it is a dream realised and a promise fulfilled to the people of Barbados.

In his brief remarks following the blessing of the terminal by Rev. Graveney Bannister, Lashley said the three-storey building is the first phase towards addressing how commuters and minibus drivers are accommodated.

The second phase of the terminal will deal with stall spaces for vendors.

The ceremony was witnessed by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Works Simone Rudder, and other members from the ministry along with members of the Transport Authority, manager of the Barbados Water Authority Keithroy Halliday, and other dignitaries. (DR)
