No sign still of Frederick Gilkes as police again made another search yesterday.

Gilkes, 59, of Lakes, St Andrew, left for his usual 4 a.m. walk on Monday and has not been seen since. Police and members of the community searched on Monday when the alarm was raised. On Tuesday and yesterday police, inclusive of the canine unit, undertook another search, but Gilkes still hasn’t been found.

When the WEEKEND NATION  visited the Lakes community yesterday, most people said whilst Gilkes was a cool quiet guy, they did not want to get involved. Others said they did not know him very well as he was a “come ya” but he kept to himself and was cool.

Another resident, who did not want to be identified, said: “I really like Frederick. I would like to see him again. I just praying and hope all would be well. I hope they find him living. Why him? Did he even get to go for his walk?”

In French Village, where Gilkes also spends time at the family home, relatives and residents who grew up with him are worried. They too joined the search on Monday and are praying for his safe return.

“Big men cry up here Monday. Where Frederick gone?” said one resident.

When contacted yesterday, police public relations officer Acting Inspector Rodney Inniss said he would verify the information. (KG)
