Shot man critical

PEOPLE IN SILVER HILL, Christ Church are fuming after a police shooting left one of their own fighting for his life.

But police said they were only acting in defence after hearing gunshots, and later seeing a speeding car coming their way.

Around 11:30 a.m. yesterday, that community was stirred by the sound of a barrage of gunshots from nearby Maxwell Plains.

When the gun battle was over, 32-year-old Dwayne Ward was left nursing injuries from gunshots and a car crash. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) where he is listed in critical condition. (AD)
