It’s not the physical aspect Darian King is concerned about.
Barbados’ top tennis player said he’s concentrating on his mental focus for the upcoming US Open following an up and down season that has seen him drop some very winnable matches.
The 26-year-old King made the comment ahead of next week’s start to the qualifying rounds for the year’s final grand slam in Flushing Meadows.
“It’s just about my focus because when I play the guys around my ranking I haven’t been sharp enough and it’s not that my tennis isn’t there, it’s just to remain focused all the time especially during the big points,” explained King.
It’s been a bit of an inconsistent season for the world No.170, who suffered some tough three-set defeats at a Challenger level that King dominated up to 2016. (JM)
