Barbadian jockeys continue to excel in Canada, and with his Spanish name “Rey” meaning king, one can understand the tremendous success which 19-year-old Rey Williams has been reaping in the irons in North America.
The former Queen’s College student, who won the prestigious Sovereign Award as the best apprentice jockey in Canada in 2017, on Wednesday returned to a VIP greeting.
Accompanied by another Bajan jockey, Renaldo Cumberbatch, Williams was received by Minister of Youth Adrian “Medic” Forde and his proud parents Rolston and Joy Williams.
Forde expressed great pride in Rey’s achievement and assured him of Government’s continued commitment and support for young talents who continue to bring glory and honour to Barbados. (KB)
