Deacons not on boycott wagon

Count Deacons out of the protest. Head coach Andrew Culpepper said his team is not on board with the near league-wide boycott of the Goddard Enterprises Limited Division One Volleyball Men’s League, as the club doesn’t even understand what the grievances are.

Culpepper made the comments after Chargers, Cawmere, All Stars, Progressive and Foundation United all signed a petition stating that they will not play any more fixtures before meeting the Barbados Volleyball Association (BVA) regarding the outcome of a game.

“I am clueless what the boycott is all about and I don’t even know what the clubs are in solidarity about, because I had heard the clubs originally had certain grievances but now I am reading the paper to see it is just over the decision about our game with Chargers, and I would hate to think that is the real reason,” said Culpepper.

“I am [at a loss as] to what I can even comment on. I know I wasn’t approached by any of the clubs, nor were any other Deacons members, so I don’t know if I should look at this as an anti-Deacons thing because it is odd that this game should cause this unrest when it really doesn’t affect the other clubs,” he said.
