BFA’s New Year plan begins with a triangular tournament involving Serbia
The Barbados Football Association’s New Year’s resolution to enhance the standard of the island’s game will kick off with a triangular cup involving world 29th ranked Serbia and St. Kitts/Nevis.
This was revealed by president of the association and CONCACAF vice president Randy Harris during a recent interview with NATION SPORT.
“We are trying to expose our players now to a higher standard of play because we think that this is one of the major ways that we can improve our football on the island. We are getting a lot of requests from teams to visit Barbados and one of those teams we are able to accommodate is Serbia at the end of January. We are having a little triangular tournament involving them and St Kitts and Nevis,” he explained.
That tournament is expected to be staged between January 21 and 29.
Last year the Bajan Tridents got in some international competition with the staging of qualifers for the CONCACAF Nation’s League where the national team gained a 3-0 victory against US Virgin Islands and suffered a 3-0 defeat against El Salvador and Guyana. They also got in some practice with an impressive 2-2 friendly draw against Jamaica and 0-0 against Bermuda. (RG)
