The Barbados Football Association (BFA) has suffered a knockout blow. It lost thousands of dollars in sponsorship for one of the island’s biggest football competitions.

Giant beer company, Stag Barbados, which is an agent of Bryden Stokes will no longer pour $40 000 into the BFA’s pockets to help foot the bill to stage the annual Champions Cup knockout competition involving teams from the Premier League, Division 1, 2 and 3.

What essentially was a two-year contract between the two entities came to a halt at the end of the first year with the local governing body for football receiving only $7 000of the agreed amount.

It all came to light when the Premier League resumed last week from its Christmas break, and it was noticed that the Stag advertising boards erected at the Wildey facility were removed from visible positionsand television cameras.  (AG-B)
