Defending monarch to be tenth on stage

PORT OF SPAIN – Defending National Calypso Monarch Helon Francis will perform at position No.10 in tomorrow’s final of the 2019 edition of the competition.

The draw for positions took place yesterday at the Kaiso House Calypso Tent, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.

Francis will sing What Coming Next, a calypso addressing the rampant crime, uncontrolled corruption and issues of foreign affairs severely affecting the nation. This calypso was written by Francis, produced by Carl “Beaver” Henderson and mastered by Martin Raymond.

Performing in position one will be newcomer Pharaoh (Darwren Greenidge) who is singing, Formula. National Carnival Commission (NCC) Chairman, Winston “Gypsy” Peters who is also in the National Extempo Monarch competition taking place the same night will perform When Elephants Fight in position nine. There are seven former monarchs in the finals this year. (Trinidad Express)
