The Barbados Investment and Development Corporation (BIDC) has been providing myriad opportunities for its Pelican Village tenants but it is up to them to take advantage.
This is according to chief executive officer Sonja Trotman, who said the delinquent individuals prefer to run to the press than make the effort to help themselves.
In an interview on Thursday, Trotman said she was “tired” of negative news being published about the corporation rather than highlighting the positives.
“We provide free Wi-Fi, good lighting and 24-hour security. The time has come for the tenants to step up and help themselves. Our role is to encourage good business practices, but they cannot depend on a landlord. If not, then I recommend they speak to our business development office.
“The tenants who are not paying need to reassess and listen to the BIDC’s advice to see how they can move forward . . . ,” she said. (CA)
